Phase 1: Topic

Why did we choose this topic?

First, we researched the meaning of streaming and what it does. Streaming is a multimedia file such as video or audio that you can play anytime without the need of downloading it first. Additionally, it implies that this data can be read on any computer or mobile device. Could be a tablet, phone, laptop, etc. There are many types of streaming content like video games, movies, tv shows, music videos, and podcasts.

Our group chose this topic because it’s the topic that interests us the most. We believe that if we choose the topic that we’re interested in, it would be easy for us to do research about it and we will enjoy doing it. And we also chose this topic because we want to learn more about gaming, what the positive and negative effects of gaming are, how it can affect our academic performance, and how we can prevent the negative effects.

Phase 2: Researching

We first conducted research on what streaming is and how it may benefit us in order to determine whether there is a need for it in the context of the issue we chose, which is online gaming. Numerous streaming apps exist, such as Twitch, Youtube, Facebook, and many others. By altering their settings, adding advertisements, becoming an affiliate, having sponsorships, etc., these streaming apps can be made profitable. We also looked into the several category options that are available for online games, and we settled on three because we needed to understand our audience's demographics. These subjects include gaming tutorials, live stream video games, and gaming highlights. To find out which of the three (3) category selections would be most popular with the students at APEC Schools of North Fairview, we created a survey for them. We questioned respondents about their gender, age, marital status, nationality, educational attainment, employment status, and household income in the survey. For the protection of the survey participants, rest assured that we will keep all information we learned from it confidential. According to the responses, all three (3) category types were watched by both genders, and the average age of those who watched gaming highlights was 13 to 17 years old, while that of those who watched live video games was 13 to 16 years old and that of those who watched gaming tutorials was 12 to 15 years old. All of the category kinds would have a single marital status. They are Filipinos. They are junior high schools in terms of educational attainment, and would be none in terms of employment or household income. Following the completion of the survey and the ability to record the audience's demographics, we decided on the category of "Gaming Highlights" as we believed it to be the most pertinent to our topic. We also discussed the advantages of watching gaming highlights there.

Phase 3: Purpose

What is the purpose of streaming?

The purpose of our stream is to entertain our target audience/s and for them to also have knowledge on our topic which is streaming highlight. And to also gain some viewers, after all gaining a viewer is hard if you don’t plan ahead thoroughly. To gain some viewers;

A. Promote the broadcast; This essentially implies that you’re informing your potential viewers that you’ll be live streaming at this time and date so they can know when to catch one of your quality streams. Your potential audience may inform their friends about it and as a result, numerous people will now be aware of your streaming schedule.

B. Get people to pre-register; People who pre-register for the stream are more likely to show up since they won’t forget because once they register, a reminder is instantly established. It’s similar to pressing the Youtube “bell” button.

C. Collaborate with others; Both parties’ live streams can benefit from working together with other live streamers. People will be able to distinguish between the gaming of the two parties in this way. This also gives you the opportunity to make new friends. This implies that you can also teach the other new strategies from the game and vice versa.

D. Mental fortitude; It is important to know yourself first, since in this way, you will be able to know what your purpose and goal are in doing the stream. You will know what kind of content you want to serve to your audience and what you’ll need to do to achieve it.

E. Involve your viewers in the stream; Interacting with viewers is especially important in the beginning, but it should be done on a regular basis. There are several methods for including your audience. Mention them by name when they write something in the chat or ask them questions in the chat that they will answer.

F. Create a schedule for your stream; The vast majority of streamers follow a weekly schedule. Every day of the week, all of your streaming times are clearly displayed, This way, your viewers will know when they can watch you and will know to expect you when you stream.

G. Use social networks; In today’s world, social networks have become indispensable. You can advertise your stream there as well as share some personal details about your life with your community. Because your viewers can communicate with you more effectively, you can significantly strengthen your connection to your community.

H. Consistent branding; The entire package must be perfect, including the appearance of your stream. In short, you must stand out from the crowd, and your stream should be professional while also reflecting your distinct personality. You should specifically use overlays, panels, emotes, alerts, and banners that complement each other and enhance your stream and channel.
